Not to be confused with Breakaway by Nancy West.

Break Away is an unidentified soul/piano blues song from an unlabeled mastertape found in a Chicago based recording studio.

Search History[]

The song was posted to YouTube on May 21st, 2019, by user numerogroup. It originated from an unlabeled mastertape from an archive of recordings from Stereosonic Studios, a recording studio from Chicago, Illinois, that was credited on records from 1967-1972.[1]

At the end of the tape, the producer asks “who does the lead on this one?” and someone else announces a song called Love Is You To Me by someone named Adrian. It’s possible that it's the song that was played after this one, but searching for it doesn’t bring up any results.

Over time, the song was reuploaded to YouTube by several users, such as Ofrix, Q, 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠, and multiple others, amassing over 5k views.

Lyrics[]

Sometimes I feel like, I don't have any love
No one cares for me, I have no one to speak of
Sometimes I feel like, my heart is just a toy
And each time you break it, it seemed to bring me so much joy

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

It seems to make you happy, to see me this way
But your happiness is my sorrow, growing stronger every day
I don't know how but, I've got to find someone new
Someone to make me happy, which you could never do

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

Your love it seems, is oh so wrong for me
All that you do is bring me misery
So I'll just go although I want to stay
But I just can't go on trying to life my life this way

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

I've got to break away
From the sadness that you bring
I've got to break away
And find life's meaning

I've got to break away
I'm going to break, break away, I've got to leave today
From the sadness that you bring
Break away
And find life's meaning

Break away
I've got to break, break away, I've got to leave today, oh
From the sadness that you bring
Break away
And find life's meaning

I'm going to break away
