The song was posted to WatZatSong on September 12th, 2017, by user Shedrock. Like most of their posts, no information was provided about the song, and they went inactive before they posted a longer snippet, but the song was likely recorded off of a British radio station, due to the abrupt start and the OP being British.
Around 2022, after the OP’s songs gained more attention due to then being reuploaded to YouTube, multiple users theorized that the song came from MySpace and was lost in the MySpace data loss. This was due to the style of their other songs being similar to MySpace bands from the mid-late 2000s. This song was a cover of Boogie Shoes by KC and The Sunshine Band.
On June 22nd, 2025, Discord user Girlwantsboy discovered mention of a 2008 live cover of Boogie Shoes done by Australian musician Gabriella Cilmi after looking for the song through the Last.fm scrobbles of a user named Chug-A-Lug[1][2], who had also scrobbled various other solved tracks from shedrock. GWB theorizes that Shedrock and Chug are the same person, and Shedrock posted his samples as quizzes, but nothing is confirmed.
The cover isn’t available online, but Discord user IRLHM/TonyCheekz found out it was from a whole concert from England covering songs from The Saturday Night Fever album for the anniversary of it topping the charts, with Gabriella also doing covers of You Should Be Dancing and Heartbreaker. Shortly after, he discovered that Gabriella sounded identical to this song’s singer[3]. She has been contacted by user Hinoyt, but she hasn’t responded yet.
