Blast Off (formerly known as Blasting Off) is a formerly unidentified melodic hard rock song that plays on the video MSTS Mainline Crash Compilation and was uploaded on March 16th 2007 by user BMR777 by Icelandic band Red Motor Dog.

Search History[]

On March 16th, 2007, a youtuber user named BMR777 uploaded a MSTS compilation video where the description states "Video is set to rock music. :)"

On April 10th, 2024 it was uploaded onto Watzatsong by trashboat with the description "Rock song found in youtube train simulator crash compilation, presumably recorded in the 2000's" after this the Watzatsong user Farendon started heavily researching this song and is considered the main researcher.

On May 23rd 2024 Farendon posted the song on various platforms to bring more attention to the search and any suggestions that may help & on 3rd June 2024 started a discord for searchers who are interested at Discord

On 23rd August 2024, Farendon started a $100 bounty for finding the song.

On August 26th, 2024, the song was identified by Farendon as Blast Off by Red Motor Dog.

Leads & Theories[]

Farendon theorised that the song may have come from an old youtube feature in 2007 called "Youtube Audioswap" where Youtube made deals with various artists at the time so users on the site could freely use the song without worrying about copyright issues. This is theorised because all the other compilations uploaded by BMR777 featured music that was on Youtube Audioswap and the description stating "Video is set to rock music. :)" which you can set in Youtube Audioswap. Farendon has found a good video archive of the Audioswap database from est. 2007 and is actively looking through it and for people to help. On 3rd June 2024 the audioswap theory was ruled out.

The original creator has also been contacted a month back on personal platforms but currently have not received any reply from OP. OP has been contacted a second time and finally responded on the 3rd June 2024.

"Hey! I don't actually recall the name of that song or who it is by. I recently actually searched through my MP3 library to see if I could find that song with no luck. Unfortunately the hard drive of the computer where I edited those videos is long gone. There might be one more place I can check for old media, might look at that soon, have to see if I can find another old drive somewhere. One thing I will say about the song though, that video was around the time I remember exploring free music downloads on a service called Pure Volume, which hosted a lot of indie music. I'm almost 100% sure I would have downloaded this from that site since it doesn't come up in Shazam and doesn't appear to be from a mainstream / known artist."

OP responded for a second time which effectively ruled out the audioswap theory & more validated platforms like purevolume & myspace:

"I'm like 99% sure it was not an audioswap. There were several videos where I had to do an audioswap due to the original song getting copyrighted but I know that particular song would have been one I downloaded. I specifically remember liking the countdown sequence for the beginning of the video. Also, I think I found one of the threads where you're tracking this song down on. The fact that I put in the video "set to rock music" to me makes me think maybe I didn't even know the song's name or artist at the time and it was something I just randomly downloaded from somewhere, most likely PureVolume but also maybe MySpace? I can't remember what I was using for music at the time but PureVolume was a big one I used to use back in the day."

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Five days, for two nights
My fix, makes all right
The wrong way, the right turn
You come back, you don't learn

[Pre-chorus]
Life's burden seems to get you down, boy
You feel the tension build up inside, but I say

[Chorus]
Blast off, high time
Let's take it all the way
No score, no reply
I leave you hangin' dry
Yeah!
Blasting off
Yeah!
Blasting off

[Verse 2]
Get down, too fast
Can't see, it won't last

[Bridge]
You want to think yours is the right way, but
You never seem to get it quite right

[Verse 3]
Hold up, don't sprint
I ain't going out of my way
Want to excite, but not now, it's way too bright

[Pre-chorus]
You've got to face this all in time my friend you're on
It's time to break the cherry, son

[Chorus]
Blast off, high time
Let's take it all the way
No score, no reply
I leave you hangin' dry
Yeah!
Blasting off
Yeah!
Blasting off
