Bells is a formerly unidentified ballad song by Californian musicians Ben Boquist and Brian Graden, recorded in 2015 and released in 2021 on the album Lost In California.

Search History[]

The song was leaked onto utopiaparkwaymusic.com on February 15th, 2015, along with other demos by the same artist, Remember You, The Piano, I’ll Grow Old With You, Better Off Without You, and The Grand Parade.

The song was reposted to YouTube on January 2nd, 2021 by user Dacine, who had downloaded the song from that website.

On March 25th, 2023, user Q reuploaded the song, along with the other songs. Almost immediately after, the YouTube copyright system identified the first song as Remember You by Ben Boquist and Brian Graden. Q checked the upload of Remember You, and also found Bells.

Both songs were officially released in 2021, the versions leaked on utopiaparkwaymusic were demo versions. None of the other leaked songs were officially released, so there wasn’t any way to fully confirm they were also by Ben and Brian until later.

Lyrics[]

Just another Friday on the strip
Pretty plastic people in the crew
Boring snippets of conversation
This inadequate stimulation
On my phone by 11:42

Guess it's time to find another scene
Then I turn around and see her face
Suddenly all the clouds have parted
I'm excited and open hearted
Our eyes meet, my blood begins to race

I can hear those hells bells
In the chapel ringing, hells bells
With their mighty sound, hells bells
And the choir singing
I was lost and now I'm found
Yeah now I'm found

This song ends and we move to the bar
Like some movie star from long ago
I step in, make an introduction
We're on course for a smooth seduction
When she smile that sound begins to grow

I can hear those hells bells
In the chapel ringing, hells bells
they keep chiming on, hells bells
And the angel singing
And all of my doubts are gone
My doubts are gone

Fumbling for our keys outside the door
And kissing as we stumble to the bed
We shed all of our inhibitions
And pursue our single mission
As I hear them louder in my head

I can feel those hells bells
Feel the deep vibration, hells bells
To my very core, hells bells
Bells of liberation
Like nothing I felt before
And I need some more

But it always ends before it should
And after that I don't know what to say
How long am I supposed to lay here
I can't sleep, do I have to stay here
Just like that, all the ringing goes away

God damn those bells
In the chapel ringing, bells
To their mighty sound, bells
Getting me in trouble
Hells bells lead around

I hear the sounds
I can hear those bells
I can hear those bells
I can hear those bells
