Not to be confused with I Believe or I Believe In You.

Believe is a formerly unidentified new jack swing song by Dutch musician Dennis Delano.

Search History[]

The song was first posted to YouTube on April 11th, 2012 by user mj1565. They falsely claimed it was a new Michael Jackson song (possibly due to being mislabeled on a peer-to-peer filesharing site, or intentionally mislabeled by the user). They didn’t provide any information about where they got the song.

Multiple users in the comments realized the song wasn’t actually by Michael, and theorized that it was possibly by Jason Malachi, TJ Jackson, or mj1565 themself. Some people in the comments claimed that Michael sang the backing vocals, but that was refuted.

On March 16th, 2024, the song was identified by user GANGSTER_BTS as Believe by Dennis Delano. They solved the song after finding a live performance of the song that had been uploaded to YouTube in 2008 by Dennis himself. mj1565 likely took the audio from Dennis’ website, as the audio compression sounds the same.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
It doesn't really matter
When they lie about me
They got no evidence
So they can't trap me
It doesn't really matter
What they say about you
You never can stop it
Cause they don't care about the truth so

[Pre-chorus]
Do you believe the radio, papers or TV? (Do you?)
Do you believe a book, a story or a movie? (Do you?)
Do you believe a picture, interview or anybody? (Do you?)
It isn't like this, isn't like that
Well I don't know, you don't know now

[Chorus]
Everything you hеar brings too much confusion
People don't know what to beliеve and think
Their own conclusion
Everything you hear brings too much confusion
People don't know what to believe and say
Didn't like it, didn't like that now

[Bridge]
Believe, believe, believe
It's so easy to believe
All the stuff that they're saying about you and me
Can you believe you read but what you never see?
Well it's hard to say when you don't have a key
People look for the truth and don't give a damn
So they say things they really don't understand
Life is tough cause the only way to succeed
Is through the eye of the public, and they'll believe

[Verse 2]
It doesn't really matter
When they talk about us
Believing every story
Might be dangerous
It doesn't really matter
What we read
In the newspapers
But which would you really believe in?

[Pre-chorus]
Do you believe a friend, your teacher or a stranger? (Do you?)
Do you believe a doctor, a dentist or a neighbor? (Do you?)
Do you believe in yourself, your father or your mother? (Do you?)
It isn't like this, isn't like that
It's what I know, you don't know now

[Chorus]
Everything you hear brings too much confusion
People don't know what to believe and think
Their own conclusion
Everything you hear brings too much confusion
People don't know what to believe and say
Didn't like it, didn't like that now

[Guitar solo]

[Chorus]
Everything you hear (Woohoo!) brings too much confusion
People don't know what to believe and think (Oh-ho)
Their own conclusion (Yeah)
Everything you hear (Everything you hear) brings too much confusion
People don't know what to believe and say
Didn't like it, didn't like that, didn't like it, didn't like that
Everything you hear (Ow) brings too much confusion (Uh-huh)
People don't know what to believe and think
Their own conclusion (Oh)
Everything you hear brings (You get your heart) too much confusion (Yeah)
People don't know what to believe and say
Didn't like it, didn't like that now

[Outro]
Believe it, believe it, believe it, believe it
Believe it, believe it, believe it, believe it
