Lyrics[]
Close your eyes, it's black as coal,
Terrifying six years old.
Round the corner, down the stairs,
Behind the curtain someone's there.
In darkened hallways, under beds,
Nightmares swimming 'round your head.
On velvet voices soft as dew
We'll sing a song that's made for you.
Shut your eyes, don't cry tonight,
Think of all the stars in the sky.
Don't you cry.
Shut your eyes, don't cry tonight,
Float away on angels' lullaby.
Don't you cry.
Shut your eyes, don't cry tonight,
Drift on velvet clouds in the sky.
Don't you cry.
Hush, don't cry, just close your eyes.
Float away on angels' lullaby.
Don't you cry.
Are these eyes blind?
Close your eyes, it's black as coal,
All grown up or so you're told.
Round the corner, up the stairs,
In vacant doorways someone's there.
In darkened alleys watch the few
Nightmares moving all around you
