The song was first posted to WatZatSong on November 8th, 2018, by user Pro56. They said it was the second track from a cassette tape recorded in March of 1987, and linked a longer snippet.
On October 15th, 2019, after the link to the longer snippet went defunct, user NanaDensin reposted it to Vocaroo[1], but that snippet eventually went defunct as well.
On October 31st, 2021, the OP posted a longer snippet of the song to Spirit of Radio under the account robert-msk. They said it sounded like Peter Murphy from the band Bauahus.[2]
On February 25th, 2022, when asked by user Ruslik if they could post the full version to Vocaroo, the OP said they couldn't.[2]
On March 21st, 2022, Pro56 reposted the snippet to Vocaroo yet again[1]. It's possible they didn’t know SOR cropped samples like how WZS did.
On December 27th, 2022, less than a month after reuploading the song to YouTube, user Mike Worst identified it as Amoeba Rock by The Batfish Boys, after listening to some songs from The March Violets, noticing how similar the male singer, Simon Denbigh sounded to this song, and looking into his other projects.
Lyrics[]
Everybody's diggin'
While the time is right
Lookin' forward to givin' our things
Lookin' for a sign of life
But life began at the bottom of the sea [?]
Come through the dark
We're going much deeper
Amoeba rock
Everybody's diggin'
Yeah, diggin' it up
We're looking for [?] modern role
Circle little fossils down
Going much deeper
This is [?] from yesterday
We're going much deeper
Amoeba rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Amoeba rock
Amoeba rock
Amoeba rock
Amoeba rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
Rock
