Étude In Sine (formerly known as Electronic Classical Excerpt) is a formerly unidentified experimental song by Michigan based musician Bernard Krause, released in 1981 on the album The New Nonesuch Guide To Electronic Music. The snippet was notable for being very short, only five seconds.

On June 10th, 2023, user Kenny Cathead posted a one hour and 25 minute video titled “Unknown” to YouTube. It featured many snippets recorded off of the radio in the 1980s. The song played three minutes and fifty-six seconds into the video.
The song was also posted to WatZatSong on June 17th, 2023 to Kenny’s account NY80sTapes. The song was recorded off of a radio station in New York or New Jersey around 1981.
On November 24th, 2023, on the FMM Discord thread for the songs he posted, Kenny said that he wasn’t the person who recorded the tapes, but instead a friend who was trying to make a sound collage, but he recorded a few things.[1]
On December 25th, 2024, the song was identified by user Max Many Mix as Étude In Sine by Bernard Krause, presumably after he found it in a WFMU playlist.
